her lovely dream.

#2 and #16

I recently mentioned that I would be posting a new adventure list for my 26th year, but while I’m still closing out my 25th year, I figured I should probably try and squeeze in a few more activities to cross off my 25 while I’m 25 list. Here’s to crossing off #2 AND #16!

Last night, the hubby and I ventured out to our first ever cooking class together! We were gifted a sushi cookbook as well as a gift certificate to take a sushi making class at Sur La Table for a wedding gift from my brother and his friend. I have always wanted to learn how to make sushi, so this was honestly one of the best gifts we received for our wedding.

We arrived at Sur La Table around 5:50 pm to begin our class at 6 pm. The teacher introduced himself to the class and the 4 of us (myself and Chris as well as one other couple) set forth on washing up to begin making sushi. The instructor took us through the proper way to cook the rice and showed us how to cut it to cool it down while adding the rice vinegar to it. Next, he showed us how to add the rice to the Nori and how to smoosh it down properly with the correct thinness and amount. We then added imitation crab, avocado, wasabi, and veggies to finish off the inside of our California Roll. Then came the hard part. We had to roll up our individual rolls using the bamboo mat. It was quite interesting at first, but basically what it comes down to is you simply roll the sushi up just like a burrito! Once you’ve got the first side tucked into the other, you wet the remaining part of the non-riced Nori and finish off the roll - wha-la! You have yourself your very own California Roll.

We made 3 different sushi rolls and 2 hand-rolls (which were the trickiest to nail down) and were able to enjoy all of our own creations at the end of class. The instructor was pretty blown away by the skill that the 4 of us had and said we were his fastest and best class yet! All in all, I would love to take another (more advanced) sushi making class, but really enjoyed the experience of having someone there to teach you every step of the way.

my beautiful tasty sushi.

(trust me…cutting the sushi was the HARDEST part - hence why mine is not as “pretty” as the husband’s.)

and the husband’s very attractive presentation of his sushi.

Would you or have you ever taken a cooking or baking class?

it’s that time of year again…

source.

Here I am - exactly 11 days to my 26th birthday! It’s time to take a look at my awesome list of 25 while i’m 25 and figure out where I want my 26th year to take me. This past year has been an absolute whirlwind and I can’t help but be a little sad about how fast 25 flew by me. While much of 25 was spent in an absolute tornado of change and self-improvement, I’m gearing up for all of the fun and exciting things coming my way for this next year! I’m putting together a new list of adventures for the direction I want this new year to take me. Stay tuned in the next week or two for a “26 while i’m 26” list! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

a much needed spring break.

I’ll be back soon with new updates and more photos, but for now, I’m taking a much needed “Spring Break.” There’s a lot of change heading my way and I am so incredibly excited! However, right now…I need to focus on the PRESENT. I need to be present in the now and am feeling a little overwhelmed with a few things going on. I’ll be back soon friends, very very soon.

I promise that my next blog post will also include some very overdue photos from our Wedding, which I promised a few weeks back. The truth is that I just haven’t had any time and uploading the wedding video became a bit of a hassle, so I’m working on that as well. Enjoy this beautiful Spring that is upon us, and remember to be here, NOW. We are alive now and need to be thankful for every single breath we breathe.

Nearly two weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing the lovely Tessa, her fiancé Dan, and their beautiful baby bump, Fay. Fay will be joining the world very soon and I can’t wait to meet her! Tessa was an absolute blast to shoot. I had a thought of going with a very natural “Pocahontas” feel to her maternity shoot, but I wasn’t at all prepared for her to offer to go “au natural.” It was AMAZING. She brought a fantastic vibe to the shoot that I couldn’t possibly have imagined and I am just so happy that she let me capture her incredible pregnancy.

Tessa is gorgeous in every way and I am so excited for her and her fiancé Dan. Congratulations to you both!
